In several of my next posts I will be sharing my own and other “bloggers” reactions to the Senate Intelligence Committee Report on Torture. Occasionally I will include the comments of a well known foreign writer commenting on America’s domestic horrors and the “Torture Report”. Below is an extract from Tariq Ali’s comment published in the London Review of Books blog on Eric Garner and on the Senate Torture Report. Emphasis is mine. We Can’t Breathe Tariq Ali 11 December 2014 ‘We live in a post-racial society,’ Obama enthused, referring to his own victory, soon after entering the White House. It sounded hollow at the time, though many wanted to believe it. Nobody does today. Not even Toni Morrison. But the response of tens of thousands of young US citizens to the recent outrages in Ferguson, Cleveland and New York is much more important and interesting than the vapours being emitted in DC. I have followed the Ukrainian crisis quite closely. I am also familiar with the history of the secret Ukranian and Byelorussian Nazi teams hired by the CIA and (then NATO) to destabilize European countries which showed any tendency to elect a “populist” government. I will be blogging about these teams in future posts. Google Wikipedia “Gladio” and “Gladio Italy” for background. The USGovt is using the successors of these fascist organizations to destabilize Ukraine and to sow terror in the Ukrainian population.
Tomas Young from Truthdig From Truthdig Tomas Young, Veteran Author of ‘The Last Letter,’ Dies at 34 Posted on Nov 10, 2014 Iraq War veteran and activist Tomas Young has died, “Democracy Now” is reporting. There is no word as of this posting about the cause of death. Young was the author of “The Last Letter,” a message to George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, published by Truthdig, in which he stated his intention to die. Young, who was in hospice care at the time and required assistance to live, later changed his mind, saying he wanted to spend more time with his wife. Chris Hedges wrote about Young and worked with him. The columnist wrote,
In 1988 a US destroyer shot down an Iranian airliner in the Persian Gulf, killing 290 people. This year a Malaysian airliner was shot down flying over Ukraine with the loss of 288 people. In the article below Professor Gusterson compares: The US Govt, (Reagan Administration) lies, and the US Main Stream Media echoing them, about the US military shooting down of Iranian airlines flight 655 in 1988 with The US Govt, (Obama Administration) probable lies, and the US Main Stream Media echoing them, about the (as yet unknown) circumstances surrounding the shooting down of Malaysia Air lines flight 17 in 2014.
From Zero Hedge How General Dynamics Just Got A $600 Million Check From Uncle Sam, Courtesy Of ISIS Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/21/2014 18:20 -0400 Sometimes, in the fog of whatever is the Mideast war du jour started initially under a “humanitarian intervention” pretext then quickly morphing into yet another counter-Syria campaign to appease various Saudi and Qatari emirs and princes, it is easy to lose sight over just what the purpose of said war is.
From Washington’s Blog October 7, 2014 Extracted from Eric Zuesse: Udo Ulfkotte, a former editor of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (which is one of Germany’s largest newspapers), has decided to go public about the corruption of himself and the rest of the Western ‘news’ media, because he finds that this corruption is bringing Europe too close to a nuclear war against Russia, which he concludes the U.S. aristocracy that controls the CIA wants to bring about, or else to bring closer to the brink.
At the UN, yesterday, another US President expanded USG’s perpetual wars yet again. Why? Apparently because a video posted on line supposedly showed two westerners having their heads sawed off.
It is easy to claim that US Main Stream Media has become an organ of the state whose news items and op eds are chosen to engineer the consent of the American people to the foreign policies of the USGovt, or to hide from them the effects of those policies. It is quite another thing to provide facts to back up that claim. This is the first of my posts to do just that, and to try to provide some measure of US MSM mendacity.
